September 2025 – The 2024–25 Goa Professional League marks the 28th edition of the state’s premier football competition. Sporting Clube de Goa enter the season as defending champions, having clinched their 8th title in May with a goalless draw against Dempo SC. The Flaming Oranje edged past their rivals by a single point, sealing back-to-back championships.
Building on months of pre-season preparation, Sporting Clube de Goa kicked off the season with a thrilling charity match against Dempo SC at Duler Stadium on September 7. The Flamin’ Oranje took the lead in the first half through new joiner Aaron Bareto, while Dempo SC equalized in the second half. The match went to a penalty shootout, where Sporting held their nerve to secure a 4-2 victory. Proceeds from the match were donated for a noble cause.
“It was a great start to the season. The boys played really well, and it was beautiful to see them giving their all until the end. They created chances, missed a few, but they never gave up. It’s a positive for the team, it shows where we stand and where we need to work on,” said coach Savio Vaz.
This season also sees a talented batch of new joiners including Niraj Parekh, Edwin Viegas, Letzamang Haokip, Prince Figueiredo, Ishaan Kandwal, Aditya Singh Thakur, Kishor Tiwari, Elvis Baite, Arsh Ahmad, and Antush Moniz, who will all contribute to the team’s campaign in the Goa Pro League.
Sporting Clube de Goa aim to carry the momentum from their charity match win into the new Goa Pro League season, targeting a ninth title.
The club will open their campaign against Sesa Football Academy on September 21 at 4:00 PM at Duler Stadium, Mapusa.
