Sporting Clube de Goa Ease Past Chapora Yuvak Sangh SC with Clinical 3–0 Win

Vagator, January 25— Sporting Clube de Goa stormed back with a dominant second-half performance to clinch a 3–0 victory over Chapora Yuvak Sangh SC in their 12th Goa Professional League fixture at the Vagator Ground on Sunday.

After a scoreless opening half, goals from Rohan Rodrigues and a brace from Joyson Gaoncar sealed a controlled win for the visitors, who displayed clinical finishing and intensity after the restart to dismantle the hosts.

The opening half saw Sporting create several opportunities but struggle with accuracy in the final third. In the 7th minute, Niraj Parekh and Kifern Dias combined to set up Doyal Alves, but the effort drifted wide of the post. Sporting continued to press, with Parekh nearly finding the breakthrough in the 15th minute from the left corner, only for his shot to sail over the crossbar.

Chapora Yuvak Sangh SC earned an opportunity via a set-piece in the 32nd minute after being awarded a free kick near the area, but the strike slid past the left side of the net. Sporting goalkeeper Abhimanyu Singh remained alert throughout the period, ensuring the sides went into the break on level terms.

The momentum firmly shifted in Sporting’s favor in the 62nd minute when a Chapora player was cautioned with a yellow card for a tackle on Doyal Alves. Sporting capitalized on the building pressure in the 68th minute, as Rohan Rodrigues found space on the left flank and fired a direct strike into the net to break the deadlock.

Just two minutes later, Sporting extended their advantage when Naocha delivered a well-timed header from the right side, allowing Joyson Gaoncar to smoothly hit the ball into the goal.

Gaoncar completed the scoring in the 72nd minute following a long ball from Dhiraj Chauhan. With the home team’s goalkeeper drawn out of position to follow the play, Gaoncar remained composed to slot the ball into the unguarded net from the right, effectively sealing the three points and continuing Sporting’s surge in the league standings.

Sporting Clube de Goa will next be seen playing against Calangute Association at the Raia Panchayat Ground.
