Panaji, May 12– Sporting Clube de Goa has announced its Football Selection Trials 2025, inviting young and aspiring footballers from across the state to take their shot at joining one of Goa’s most storied clubs. The trials will be held in two phases — first in South Goa on the 12th and 13th of May 2025 at the Verna Panchayat Ground, and then in North Goa on the 20th and 21st of May 2025 at the DSYA Ground in Santa Cruz. U-17 boys will be assessed in the morning sessions from 8:00 to 10:00 AM, while U-19 boys will take the field in the afternoon from 3:00 to 5:00 PM on both days.
These trials come at a significant time for Sporting Clube de Goa, who recently concluded a successful campaign by lifting the Goa Professional League 2024–25 title. The team showcased resilience and consistency throughout the season, edging out rivals Dempo SC to defend their crown. Although they narrowly missed out on I-League promotion — finishing third overall — in the I-League 2, the club remains committed to building from the ground up and continuing their push for national recognition.
Reflecting on the trials and the club’s future, head coach Armando Colaco said, “This is where it all starts. Identifying and nurturing young talent has always been central to Sporting’s philosophy. We may have missed out on the I-League this year, but our focus hasn’t shifted — we’re building for something bigger. These trials are about giving Goan boys a real chance to be part of that journey.”
In line with its developmental mission, Sporting Clube de Goa has also signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with Saraswat Vidyalaya, Mapusa, and Sacred Heart of Jesus High School, Anjuna, to promote grassroots football and provide structured opportunities for emerging talent.
With a strong youth foundation, a title-winning squad, and a clear ambition for national progression, Sporting Clube de Goa continues to be a beacon for football development in the state.
