Duler, October 3 — Sporting Clube de Goa played out a 1-1 draw against Dempo SC on Friday in their third Goa Professional League match of the season. Striker Doyal Alves netted his first goal of the season, putting Sporting ahead, but Asmon Viegas quickly equalized for the visitors.
Sporting started brightly, creating early chances. In the 11th minute, Samuel Costa delivered a corner that resulted in a header, only for Dempo SC captain Arnold Oliveira to deflect it away from goal. Ngangbam Naocha Singh had another attempt from a corner in the 44th minute, which was saved by Dempo goalkeeper Myrick Hilario.
The second half witnessed the deadlock break in the 57th minute when substitute Doyal Alves scored from close range, assisted by Myron Fernandes. Sporting’s lead was short-lived, however, as Asmon Viegas capitalized on an opportunity in the 63rd minute to level the score at 1-1. Sporting’s goalkeeper Abhimanyu Gupta made a key save in the 68th minute to prevent Dempo SC from taking the lead again.
Both sides pushed for a winner in the final minutes, but neither could find the breakthrough, leaving the match tied.
The draw keeps Sporting Clube de Goa in contention, with their next match against Geno FC scheduled for October 9.
